What I painted were sceneries with a variety of flowers.
Scenes I have witnessed across the world, and the blossoms that stood in full glory within them.
Ordinary moments that will never return again.
Through paintings, I transform these fleeting instants etched into my mind into landscapes that endure forever.
I had been working with Ginza Sony Park in various ways even before its grand opening in 2025.
And each time, I felt it—a resonance with this place.
Connecting people with the city, and people with one another, through its activities and openness.
This is one of the things I too strive toward with my own art.
This art exhibition, held in collaboration with Ginza Sony Park, feels like an ambitious new endeavor in that sense as well.
In this Park of Ginza, where people gather from all over the world, I will create a space filled completely with paintings of flowers.
I wanted to express, in my own way, the beauty of hanami, Japan's cherished springtime tradition of viewing flowers.
It would make me truly happy if this landscape, that can be seen nowhere else, is able to move the hearts of the many people who visit Ginza. And if that movement of the heart can become a small source of energy to help someone live through the day, then there would be no greater happiness for me as a painter.
